So, What is an Integration?
First, let’s talk about what an integration is. If you already know, then feel free to skip to the next section. Otherwise, read on.
As you may know, an extension or plugin adds functionality or customization to your store. And an integration is a type of extension (or plugin) for your store. It’s “a third party that integrates with WooCommerce and uses a plugin to facilitate the integration” in the words of our Lead Web Developer, Caleb. In other words, an integration is a separate company that connects (or integrates) with WooCommerce via a plugin or extension.
What Are the Best Integrations?
So now that you know what an integration is, you might be wondering: What integrations can help me to run a successful store?
Well, we’ve got a few that we’re pretty big fans of here at eScale. Curious? Here’s what they are…
ShipStation is an order fulfillment software that helps you import, manage and ship your orders. Once you install the plugin, ShipStation will take care of all your orders that need to be shipped. It tells you what the status of your orders are and where they are being sent to; through ShipStation, you can also send customized notification emails, packing slips, shipping labels and tracking pages that match your brand.

ActiveCampaign is an email and marketing automation software that helps you organize your customer data and segment your users so that you can target them appropriately. Surely you’ve heard of PayPal. But did you know that you can integrate PayPal with your WooCommerce store?
There are several extensions that let you do this: PayPal Standard (which takes customers off of your site and onto PayPal in order to complete the order), PayPal Powered by Braintree (which lets customers pay with PayPal and other credit or debit cards directly on your site—without having to leave), and PayPal Checkout (which lets customers pay with PayPal, Venmo, PayPal Credit, and local payment options).
Why it’s So Great: Everyone has heard of PayPal. Letting your customers pay through PayPal can therefore help to make customers feel more confident in purchasing from you and (you guessed it) increase conversions.
Stripe is our preferred payment gateway at eScale. With Stripe, you can accept all the major debit and credit cards, along with local payment options. Stripe has more than 100 different currency options and gives users access to a dashboard where they can view transactions.
Why it’s So Great: Unlike many other payment providers, Stripe isn’t out-of-the-box. Instead, it offers a variety of APIs that let you develop your own payment processes. Another plus? Because you only have to pay for the features you use, you get to save more of your hard-earned money.
Having the right WooCommerce integrations for your store is like fueling your body with the right kinds of foods. If you eat healthy foods, then your body will be in better shape and able to perform better; but if you just eat junk all the time, then your body probably won’t be able to perform very well.
The truth is, running a successful eCommerce store takes a lot more than just the right integrations. But if you utilize these integrations properly and take advantage of all that they have to offer, then your store will be in a much better position to succeed.
